I led a webinar on blogging this afternoon for the Online Media Campus. My slides are below. I referred participants to the advice I collected from bloggers for a workshop last year.
I’m still interested in your help: What are some tips you have for effective blogging? Please add them in the comments, along with links to some bloggers who illustrate smart blogging techniques.
In addition to the advice linked above, you can get some good blogging advice (and coaching) from Alexis Grant. What are other helpful resources for bloggers?
Blogs I noted during the seminar (in addition to Alexis’ blog):
We Love DC, cited as an example of a multiple-author blog.
Erica Smith’s Paper Cuts, an example of a blog with a clear focus.
John Robinson’s Editor’s Log, an example of an editor’s conversation with the community.
Jay Rosen’s Press Think, for it’s emphatic dismissal of the stupid bloggers-vs.-journalists argument.
The TBD Community Network, showing the variety of blogs you can find in your community.
The Anti DC, an example of a blog with an edgy commentary voice.
One Photograph a Day, an example of a photo blog.
Greater Greater Washington, ARLnow and Prince of Petworth, examples of blogs using photos.
Daring Fireball (suggested by two tweeps), for the “Obsession Times Voice” formula.
I had about a half-dozen other good examples open, but didn’t have time to get to them. Thanks to all who shared blogging advice and suggested good examples, including these tweeps:

Hi Steve,
Please let me know if you have any tips — or plan to do any other webinars — for nonprofit groups. We’re thinking about starting a blog and I’d love some help.
thanks so much, Celia Slater
